First Spin-a-thon of 2012 a Smashing Success!

by | Apr 1, 2012 | 0 comments

“What a success!” Lori Mattheiss exclaimed, referring to HNF’s first Spin-A-Thon of 2012, held at The Club in Morristown, New Jersey, on Saturday March 31. Lori was lead organizer of the event. “We had such a great time! It was a cold, crummy, rainy day but we had a lot of fun.” Following two spin sessions, everyone gathered for a yummy brunch of bagels, lox, spiral sandwiches, cookies and brownies, complete with Bloody Mary’s for the adults. “I really liked being able to talk to everybody,” Lori said. “It was nice to really connect with the people who came out to support us.”

In addition to donating space for the Spin-A-Thon and brunch, The Club encouraged attendees to make use of all the facilities for the day. Families attending with small children were especially excited to use the salt generator pool.

Toward the end of the brunch, eight assorted gift baskets were raffled off, raising an additional $400 for HNF! The themed baskets included: Mary Kay Cosmetics, Girl Scout cookies, a wine party, baby showers and a spa basket. They were for the most part created by Lori’s daughter, Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn works endlessly to increase awareness of CMT on behalf of her brother Jacob.

Sponsors included Paula Shiff of Zrii, a range of nutritional supplements that “Balance the Mind, Body and Soul.” Paula distributed samples of the protein/meal replacement drink. Cathy, from Affiliated Foot and Ankle Center in Howell, NJ, also attended, representing Dr. Alison DeWaters who works with patients with CMT.  And thanks to Hilton for donating coffee and providing tables/cloths!

Thank you to everyone who, by working together, helped make our first Spin-A-Thon of 2012 an amazing success!
