Bridget R. McGowan, MD is a pediatric neurologist specializing in neuromuscular medicine at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She brings a unique blend of clinical acumen and research expertise to her role, with a particular focus on advancing care for children with complex neuromuscular disorders.

Dr. McGowan completed her medical degree at Case Western Reserve University, followed by a residency in Child Neurology and a subsequent fellowship in Neuromuscular Medicine at Northwestern University/McGaw Medical Center/Lurie Children’s Hospital. She is board-certified in Child Neurology and Neuromuscular Medicine and actively involved in both patient care and clinical research.

As a dedicated physician-scientist, Dr. McGowan leads and collaborates on numerous clinical trials and natural history studies, serving as principal investigator on projects exploring gene therapies and emerging treatments for inherited neuropathies, Duchenne muscular dystrophy and limb-girdle muscular dystrophies. She is passionate about refining and personalizing therapeutic strategies, particularly gene therapies, for underserved pediatric neuromuscular conditions such as inherited neuropathies.
