In this age Social Media, sharing your life experiences has become the rule, rather than the exception. We share everything…family events, good times, even pictures of our food. There’s another element of social sharing that has become both loved and a loathed: the selfie.
Taking pictures of oneself and sharing on social media has become so popular that it has even become an official word in the Oxford dictionary:
A photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and shared via social media.
Whether you’re a fan of them or not, we would like to show the faces of those who support CMT Awareness and Research with our #Unselfies4CMT Text-to-Give campaign. Participation will be easy and fun, and will help raise awareness of CMT Disease and raise money directly for research!
First, take out your smartphone and text CMT to 501501. Click on the confirmation link, and you will have donated $10 directly to CMT research, charged to your wireless bill.
Second, take a picture of yourself and post to your favorite social media sites with the message “I just donated $10 to CMT disease by texting CMT to 501501. Please help by being #unselfies4cmt!”
This simple act of giving and sharing will help millions worldwide that are afflicted by this debilitating disease. You only have to give once, but please feel free to share a new #Unselfies4CMT everyday to help us raise awareness for CMT disease. We can all make a difference…one #Unselfies4CMT at a time!
