It’s that time of year again!

September is CMT Awareness Month!

This is a very special year for HNF, as we are only one month away from hosting the first Patient-Centered Charcot-Marie-Tooth Summit on October 6 in New York City!

Now more than ever, we want to hear your voices, see your photos and hear your stories. Join us throughout the entire month of September as we continue our mission to increase awareness, raise research funds and find a cure for CMT!

HNF has some exciting events this month to celebrate CMT Awareness Month leading up to the Summit.

Here’s how you can get involved TODAY!

moonCMT Moon Run Fundraiser:

The “CMT Moon Run” is a fundraising event inspired and created by CMT patient and community member Estela Lugo.

Estela has been using the Alter-G anti-gravity treadmill: an innovative technology that seals the patient into an air-filled bag and reduces a patient’s body weight by 80%. Alter-G can help regain mobility, increase strength, speed, and enhance range of motion with natural movement…all while minimizing the risk of injury!

Estela’s experience with Alter-G sparked the idea for the “CMT Moon Run” fundraiser. We want people to run during CMT Awareness Month. Run outdoors, run in your gym, run in a pool, and if you have CMT, get on an Alter-G!

Avoiding certain medications is extremely important for CMT patients. During September awareness month, make a minimum donation of $10 and receive a Neurotoxin wallet card.

This fact card alerts CMT patients about medications that may worsen their neuropathy. You can provide this vital information easily to all your Health Care Providers when they prescribe a medication.

CMT-Connect is an HNF initiative providing educational workshops to local communities. We encourage a holistic-educational and empowerment approach to our workshops.
