Day 2: The take off (and landing the night before for that matter) had turned out to be a little more difficult than anticipated. After watching the surf for almost an hour she prepared for departure. Wading in the water for almost 20 minutes, they found a lull and she pushed out. Safely making it out past the break, she had a 16 mile paddle ahead of her. Jenny stated the day was full of sun, calm seas, and lots of flying fish. Her next camp spot was at Spencer’s Beach Park.
After judging the clouds over Mauna Kea and wind report, she decided to go 4 miles offshore to cut to her destination. This decision made it difficult to spot the park. Furthermore, a short term loss of communication proved stressful to the shore crew. Radio contact was eventually regained and Krystal was so happy to see her pull in late afternoon!
