CMT & COVID-19

With the recent outbreak of COVID-19, our team at the Hereditary Neuropathy Foundation remains as dedicated to the CMT community as ever. We encourage you all to follow all guidelines released by the CDC and other government agencies to keep you and your family as safe as possible. While there is no evidence that people with CMT Disease as a whole are at greater risk than the general population if they are infected with COVID-19, those patients with a compromised immune system or comorbidities such as respiratory issues should be extra vigilant by avoiding high risk situations and developing good preventative hygiene habits.

Even though we are being encouraged to practice “social distancing” in our everyday lives, we at HNF will always be here to support our community as we all navigate this crisis together. I encourage you all to join our Inspire community, if you are not already a member, and to participate in our webinars when you are able to. We need each other, now more than ever!

In our continued efforts to provide vital information and clarify potential dangers, we have collaborated with a leading expert on respiratory issues and neuromuscular disease, Dr. John Bach of Rutgers Medical University for an in-depth webinar on respiratory health & COVID-19:
