Carolyn Spector, J.D., LL.M. Carolyn Spector is the newly appointed Executive Director of the Hereditary Neuropathy Foundation. Carolyn leads the daily operations including raising awareness, funding scientific research, and educating the medical community as well as the general public about Charcot-Marie Tooth disease. Carolyn manages fundraising strategies, corporate/private donor relations, grant proposals and budget enforcement. She supervises all internal staff and serves as the main point of contact with the Board of Directors.
Carolyn oversees the CMT awareness campaign that educates doctors, patients, and the general public. She manages the website that includes the world’s largest source of information on the disease detailing treatment, research, and lifestyle.
Most recently, Carolyn served as the Executive Director of Worldwide Children’s Foundation of New York, a Not for Profit organization whose mission is to provide life saving and life altering surgery to children throughout the world.
Carolyn also served as Deputy Director of the Criminal Justice Division of Safe Horizon, the nation’s largest provider of services to victims of crime, where she was responsible for the daily operation of more than thirty crime victim programs located throughout the five boroughs.
Prior to moving to New York City, Carolyn held the position of Assistant District Attorney in the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She was also a Visiting Professor at Northeastern University’s Graduate School of Criminal Justice.
Carolyn has her Juris Doctorate from Boston University School of Law, a Masters in Science degree from Northeastern University’s Graduate School of Criminal Justice, as well as an LL.M. in criminal law and constitutional law from New York University.
Jess Johnston Jess Johnston, Membership Director/Office Manager, received her BA from the University of Mary Washington in 2006, with a focus in Stage Management. She has extensive management experience, including a 4 year stint office managing and directing marketing for a Virginia theatre company, and a position assisting in sales and publishing at AARP publications.
Jess is so thrilled and honored to be a part of HNF, and is very excited about helping to spread awareness and raise funds to find a cure for CMT.
